Every item we sell is individually examined, assigned a written condition grade, and photographed before it is listed. Nothing is sold sight-unseen.
Inventory is received and inspected in Japan, then consolidated and stocked at a third-party fulfillment center in Texas. Orders placed by customers in the United States ship domestically from that facility — no international transit, no customs step, and no import charges for the buyer.
DFW Camera Works LLC buys pre-owned photographic equipment, verifies its working condition and cosmetic state, and resells it to photographers and hobbyists through established online marketplaces.
We are not a manufacturer and not an authorized dealer. We do not sell new goods, we do not carry accessories as a category, and we do not operate a physical storefront. The entire business is the same repeated cycle: acquire, inspect, grade, fulfill.
Our margin comes from doing the inspection step properly. A used camera is only worth what its condition can be trusted to be, so the grade we publish is the product.
Units are purchased individually from established secondary-market channels. Each acquisition is recorded against a single unit — we do not buy in undifferentiated lots.
Shutter operation, sensor, optics, electronics and cosmetics are checked. Actuation count is recorded where the body reports it. A written grade is assigned from the table below.
Graded units are shipped to our third-party fulfillment partner in Texas, where they are received, barcoded and held until sold.
Orders ship from Texas by domestic US carriers, typically within one business day. Returns are received back at the same facility and re-inspected.
We publish the same five grades on every listing. The grade describes cosmetics; mechanical and optical function is verified on every unit regardless of grade, and any fault found is disclosed in the listing text rather than folded into the grade.
| Grade | Cosmetic condition | Typical description |
|---|---|---|
| Top Mint | As new | No signs of use under inspection light. Often unused or display stock. Original packaging usually present. |
| Mint | Nearly as new | Handled but not visibly worn. No marks on the body, no dust or haze in the optics. |
| Near Mint | Light use | Very minor handling marks visible only at close range. Nothing that affects handling or image. |
| Excellent | Normal use | Small scuffs or finish wear consistent with regular use. Fully functional; glass clear. |
| Good | Visible wear | Obvious cosmetic wear such as brassing or paint loss. Sold as a working user unit, with the wear photographed. |
Units that fail functional inspection are not graded and are not listed for sale as working equipment.
